About Us

Why the Arctic?

Every winter, the Arctic witnesses a spectacular event. The North of Norway is quite a rare place because it hosts the biggest congregation of cetaceans due to the Norwegian Spring Spawning Herring that comes close to the shore, and – whales & orcas follow. The dramatic fjord backdrop - covered in snow, and the beautiful contrast with the deep blue polar night light - makes it for a whimsical experience. Thousands of people from around the world travel here to become a spectator and take back with them memories for a lifetime. In the current world circumstances, we have received numerous messages with saddened Orca lovers that had to put their plans on hold for this winter. And we wanted to bring them, and anyone else – the first streaming service to experience the magical Arctic life. Orca Channel is on a mission to bring you the best moments from the winter whale watching season in the Arctic. We want to show you stunning encounters at sea, while also advocating for the fragility of their lives and vulnerability.

It’s for you if…

The TV documentaries show you a side of the marine wildlife from an expert level, one that you can only admire from the sidelines, and never feel being a part of. We, on the other hand, will show you the raw side of it. One that you can experience being side-by-side on our daily outings, where you can join us as well, as a guest. We call it: Your Window into the Arctic wildlife If you’re like us and feel the thrill from spotting an orca riding a wave or get excited from a spy hop. If you dream of immersing yourself into the life above the Arctic, with whales, orcas, seagulls, and eagles feeding side by side. If your heart skips a beat from seeing dramatic fjords covered in snow. If the explorer within you awakens at the sight of learning about these majestic animals’ behaviour. You’re in for a treat.

Why the Raw documentary narrated format?

Orca Channel was created for marine wildlife lovers worldwide who share the passion for learning about these marine mammals, seeing them in their wild habitat and, when accepted by them, join them in their Arctic playground. You will get access to the thrilling moments captured on our daily whale watching outings. This will be part of a continuously growing winter watching series and features. The videos will show off the Arctic ecosystem, with exciting science-based information narration, on what you’ll be seeing. The anticipation of each day and what it brings is where the fairy-tale-like moments happen because the Arctic is spectacular and diverse. You’ll see marine wildlife, from Orcas to humpback whales, a variety of birds, from eagles to seagulls, and snow-covered fjords, bathing in the deep blue light of the polar night day.
Orca Channel is a subscription-based video library, in a documentary format with professional, yet captivating narration. The subscription platform is available anytime, anywhere. You can watch it with your entire family on your TV or laptop, or snug in some orca time on your mobile device, based on the membership level you opt for.

Our approach

Our approach to interact with the marine wildlife, in its natural habitat, comes from a place of minimizing our impact or presence, without disturbing their habits or daily activities. This comes along with always responsibly approaching and understanding our impact on the environment. As a small operator, we truly believe that is our actions and not our size that has the last word. And so, we encourage and educate our guests and viewers on the importance of each of our actions on the world around us. Especially when it comes to these majestic sea animals, and their vulnerability to our actions, collectively. So, whether you’re passionate about marine wildlife or the dramatic Arctic nature, want to learn more and observe them in their wild environment, join us and experience the Orca Channel – A window into the Arctic.

Meet the Team

Norbert "Norbi"

Skipper & Videographer

I started my diving career in 2001 and have spent my time since then near the sea, under and above it. I have worked as a diving instructor and skipper in Croatia, Ireland, the Caribbean and Norway. My first encounter with humpback whales and orcas, in Norway, was a turning point. Not only I decided to stay, fascinated by their intelligence and social cooperativeness, but that’s how I met my life partner, Krisztina through a shared love for them.

As a scuba diving instructor I have travelled all around the world to work and observe the marine wildlife above and underwater. This journey led me back to Norway, where I guide tourists from different countries on sea adventures and sharing my vast knowledge with them.
