Some of the most beautiful moments happen in the smallest of details, and by joining us for the whole seasons, you’ll get to see what a traditional TV documentary won’t show you.
Some days, you’ll get overjoyed with their feeding frenzy. In others, you’ll get excited following them riding the waves. There will be days when their curiosity will make them approach and interact with us. And on other days, where you can experience the calmness and a meditation like state in their relaxed and less eventful days. There isn’t a day similar to another as there is something different everyday with these cheeky spy hoppers. So, come along.
Coming to see the whales and orcas, in person, is a unique experience. And we encourage you to do so as soon as travel resumes to normal. We are happy to welcome you onboard when you’re here!! And even more – you’ll look with different eyes and understanding at the whole experience, having had learned about their behavior from all of our narrations throughout the seasons. This will enhance your visit tenfold. However, we will spill a few secrets for a few advantages one can benefit from, when following our streams:
Firstly, the harsh Arctic winters are not forgiving, and even with the overlays we provide our guests with, we’ve had some that didn’t get to enjoy it at the maximum because of low tolerance to cold.
Secondly, during a visit up north, guests often choose to go whale watching only once, which means that they are at the mercy of both, weather conditions and orcas’ movement, and sometimes, they don’t get to see them at all, or very little, during their sea outing.
Thirdly, it’s a bit of a high-priced ticket experience, when considering all things involved to get here.
And lastly, the strong wind at sea, makes it quite often for a rough ride. And it’s always a possibility that some end up discovering being seasick, especially if they’re susceptible to motion sickness. And this, sadly, cuts short their enjoyment.
Following our channel will bring you the joy of following the life of Orcas and Whales in the Arctic, from the comfort of your home, minus the cold and the seasickness.Â
Orcas and humpback whales gather in the Norwegian fjords – their feasting grounds, where they catch the herring. Based on past years’ experience and in close collaboration with other operators, it creates a network of knowledge that we rely on, in addition to our own search with the binoculars.
We only get as close as the orcas and humpback whales would allow us, never pushing the limits to get a better view or for a photo op. It’s important to note that when we find the animals, we slow the boat and let them approach us. Some days, they keep their distance and on others, they come right next to our boat. So whatever distance they are at, it’s one chosen by them only.
The absolute best time to see the orcas and humpbacks in Norway is between November and January. A total of 3 months, throughout the entire winter. And that is why we chose this exact period for the streaming months.
We are located in Skjervøy – 70 degrees North of Norway. This is where we bring our guests that want to join us for the whale watching months, and this is where we will be bringing you, to follow us along. Get you mittens ready, for some faraway support 🙂
You mean besides Orcas and whales? Tons!! Starting with dramatic snowcapped fjords, the incredible deep blue light of the polar night, bird life with their power moves, come feeding time, Norwegian fishing boats, various thrilling Arctic weather, and maybe some northern lights, and so much more…
